1 I currently use auctiva for listing my items on ebay, but from July Auctiva will not be free, I list about 7 products a week and make a very small profit, to think that this would now been eaten in fees is making me think twice about using auctiva, I love auctiva as it is easy to use, my question is, is auction splash the same as auctiva, the only difference is that there are no fees? Do I just need to down load the software to get me started?

AuctionSplash performs the same function as Auctiva in terms of listing items but is much more powerful.

Auctiva is a web based service, like eBay. If the Auctiva servers have a problem (for example a virus) then you cannot list items or perhaps your buyers cannot perform checkout. To access Auctiva you have to log onto the web and check status on a web page. The added value that Auctiva can offer is therefore limited when compared to using eBay directly.

AuctionSplash is a desktop based program. It runs on a PC and is designed to be running all the time. AuctionSplash lets you create a listing, using templates etc but harnesses the power of your PC to do neat things like automatic picture resizing and auto picture rotation - it knows how you were holding your camera when you took the photo, for example, if you were holding your camera to take a portrait photo then it will automatically rotate that picture to make it portrait. Once you have created and listed your item then it is transferred to eBay using the eBay API. This interface sends your information direct to the eBay servers and this takes only a second or so. Pictures are then uploaded in the background (which can take a minute or so) but you can continue with your work while this is happening. Another advantage of this approach is that you can compose listings offline and then only go online to actually post them. We also have great features such as suggested categories and popular keywords. Popular keywords checks with eBay and lists the top 10 search terms used by people searching in your chosen category - try it since I am sure you will be surprised what people actually search for and you can make sure that you are including the pertinent keywords in your auction title.

Once your listings are running, AuctionSplash checks their status every 5 minutes and (Important Bit) lets you know when some event has happened or when you need to do something. This is great because it means you do not have to check on status all the time, as soon as something happens - for example a question for one of your items, or an item sells/payment is complete, you get a desktop alert. This means that you are informed as against you having to check whether something has happened.

When an item sells you will be kept informed as to the checkout and payment status. AuctionSplash can then print off shipping labels for you and will update the status on eBay for those items when you actually ship them.

Bulk feedback also makes things much easier for you.

AuctionSplash therefore gives you a faster, safer and more fun way to work on eBay. You are kept informed of what is happening and you benefit from no picture hosting fees and great picture handling.

2 How can AuctionSplash be Free?

If only we had $1 for everyone who asks this question! AuctionSplash was designed for my wife who likes to buy and sell on eBay. In an attempt to help her to sell more quickly and cheaply on eBay AuctionSplash was born. Over the years it has been developed to aid in every aspect of buying and selling on eBay. It is our firm belief that AuctionSplash will help everyone from small time users to PowerSellers. In upholding this belief we consider that AuctionSplash must be offered free of charge. AuctionSplash makes money when you buy something on eBay using AuctionSplash. We get paid an amount by eBay for every purchase you make and this is currently our revenue stream. So go ahead, try AuctionSplash and discover how much money and time you can save!

3 Is AuctionSplash competing with eBay?

Absolutely not! AuctionSplash uses the eBay API and is an approved eBay Certified Application. AuctionSplash talks to eBay in the background. When you list an item we send your information directly to eBay, then again in the background, we send your pictures to our servers where they are hosted for free. When we show the status of your auctions we get the information direct from eBay. AuctionSplash is helping eBay by making it easier for people to buy and sell on eBay.

4 Is AuctionSplash safe to use?

You have to give AuctionSplash permission to communicate with eBay on your behalf. eBay issue a “token” and this is stored on YOUR computer. It is NEVER sent to AuctionSplash. This is in contrast with online services like Auctiva where your token is stored on their servers. Since your important “token” is only stored on your PC it is not possible to succumb to a hacker stealing your identity or gaining access to your account. Since all the information displayed in AuctionSplash is obtained directly from eBay you cannot also be susceptible to phishing attacks, if AuctionSplash tells you that an item has been paid for you can rely on this information.

In addition, since AuctionSplash talks directly with the eBay servers you do not have to worry about AuctionSplash not being available. When using online services such as Auctiva a problem with their servers could mean that you cannot access the items you are selling, you cannot list items and, in some cases, your customers cannot perform checkout!

5 When I start AuctionSplash it does not appear.

AuctionSplash minimizes to your taskbar. Please check in the bottom right of your screen to see if there is a little AuctionSplash logo there. Just double click it and AuctionSplash will appear.

6 What happens if I stop using AuctionSplash? Could I just go back to eBay?

Yes. AuctionSplash sends all information to eBay. If you change the dispatched status in AuctionSplash then that change is also made in eBay, any item you list with AuctionSplash is also shown in eBay. In short, you can stop using AuctionSplash, you still have all your images on your PC no problems. We hope that you would never find a reason to leave AuctionSplash but your options are always open.

7 Does AuctionSplash support eBay Motors?

Support for eBay Motors is planned for the future. We will be adding many features in the coming months so please keep watching.

8 Is there any support available?

With AuctionSplash you can have prompt support from a real person. As a first step please use the Contact Us form to send a question to us. We can then arrange to speak if necessary.

9 My Item will not list and gives a currency error

A very common problem for new users. Very often this is caused by not setting a PayPal email address (you do this in preferences). A paypal email address is required by eBay.

10 How can I modify an item I previously saved?

Go into create listing and click on the Load Previous Item button (top right). A list of previously listed and saved items will be displayed.
